Align your career with the NICE Cybersecurity Framework
All of our cybersecurity-based programs are aligned with the federal government’s (NICE) workforce framework. Guidelines are below.
The NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (NICE Framework) is the blueprint to categorize, organize, and describe cybersecurity work. It was developed in partnership with the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE), the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide educators, students, employers, employees, training providers, and policymakers with a systematic and consistent way to organize the way we think and talk about cybersecurity work, and to identify the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform cybersecurity tasks.
The NICE Framework is a blueprint to categorize, organize, and describe cybersecurity work into Categories, Specialty Areas, Work Roles Tasks, and Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). It provides a common language to speak about cyber roles and jobs and can be referenced by those who wish to define professional requirements in cybersecurity.
Who benefits?
The NICE Framework helps:
- Employers Assess their cybersecurity workforce, identify critical gaps in
- cybersecurity staffing, and improve position descriptions and recruitment
- Current and future cybersecurity workers Explore Work Roles, KSAs, and tasks valued by employers for in-demand cybersecurity positions.
- Academic advisors and staffing specialists Support students and job seekers in designing their path towards a job in cybersecurity
- Training and certification providers Help current and future members of the cybersecurity workforce gain and demonstrate the KSAs
- Education providers Reference the NICE Framework to develop curriculum, courses,
seminars, and research aligned to NICE Framework KSAs and Tasks - Technology providers Identify cybersecurity Work Roles, KSAs, and specific Tasks associated with the services and hardware/software products they supply
